Do I leave the blanket material after the grass has begun to grow?

Yes! The blanket material is what helps keep the seeds protected during germination.

Can I use the blanket on a sloped area?

Yes, you can, but be sure to use stakes or staples on the edges and every foot or so down the middle to make sure it is well secured to the soil to avoid movement or slippage.

How long does it take for the blanket material to disappear?

The material is biodegradable and can take between 6-8 weeks to fully dissolve and become part of your earth. Several factors including sunlight exposure, soil temperatures and microbial activity contribute to the breakdown of the mulch material.

Why isn’t my grass growing?

There are many factors that contribute to grass growth including unfavorable weather conditions, seeds drying out between watering, poor seed to soil contact, pre-emergent chemicals in the soil.

Is it safe for my animals? What if they eat it?

All Amturf products contain natural components and are safe for animals to be around. If your animal consumes any of the product, we recommend you contact your veterinarian for proper care of your pet. See the analysis label on the bag for specific ingredients.

Why are there weeds growing in my product?

All Amturf products contain 99.9% weed free grass seed. However, there could be dormant weed seeds present in the soil. Weed seeds can blow in from the surrounding area. If you notice weeds growing in with your grass, wait until it is fully established before using any weed killer products.

Do I need to use fertilizer?

We don’t recommend using additional fertilizer on a freshly planted area until the grass is fully established as it can cause harm to the new seedlings.

How long should it take to see results?

Depending on conditions, you should see results from your product between 5-14 days.

When should I start to mow?

Once your grass has grown to 2-3 inches in height, you can begin to mow.

Is it too cold to plant?

For best results, plant in the Spring or Fall when temperatures are between 60-80 degrees. Seed will not germinate if soil temperatures are below 50 degrees.
